En trente ans, la finance est devenue toute-puissante. Pas un jour sans connaître les mouvements du FTSE ou du NASDAQ, pas une semaine sans analyse du change, pas un mois sans fermeture d’usine, pas un an sans inquiétude sur la dette publique, pas une décennie sans une crise financière. Le bilan macroéconomique de nos économies occidentales est peu glorieux : une croissance molle, des investissements atones, un chômage endémique, des inégalités croissantes. Le constat est sans appel : les politiques libérales ont déréglementé la finance, et la banque, qui accompagnait autrefois l’industrie dans ses investissements à long terme, lui fait aujourd’hui obstacle. La créativité des financiers s’est substituée à celle des entrepreneurs. Il est urgent de remettre la finance à sa place : ce n’est pas à l’économie d’obéir à la finance, mais à la finance de servir l’économie. Un ouvrage qui décrypte trente ans de financiarisation de l’économie, propose un examen détaillé de l’articulation entreprise/ finance et avance des propositions – analysées et commentées par Michel Aglietta – pour mieux penser l’économie réelle.
In order to address discrimination, we must understand and address its fundamental basis of systemic oppression. Stratification economics goes beyond myopic mainstream conceptualisations of discrimination and recognises the historical, institutional, and structural factors that create and maintain socioeconomic disparities and hierarchies. To critically approach the economics of discrimination, this workshop will focus on stratification economics, a systematic and empirically grounded approach to addressing intergroup inequality (Darity, 2005). Focusing on racial discrimination, we will discuss the core elements of stratification economics, critically evaluate its relevance, and apply these understandings to construct case studies and solutions for change. In our discussions, we will consider an array of topics, including intersecting oppressions, reparative justice, and the role of knowledge production in overcoming injustice and creating a better world.
Der WSI-Verteilungsbericht bietet wie jedes Jahr einen faktengesaettigten Bericht zur Lage der sozialen Ungleichheit in Deutschland vor. Insbesondere die Ausfuehrungen zum Zusammenhang von Ungleichheit und Institutionenvertrauen und die im Bericht enthalteten Daten zu ungleich verteilten Sorgen in verschiedenen wirtschaftlichen Lagen, sowie die Ausfuehrungen zur unterschiedlichen Betroffenheit der gegenwaertigen Krisenkonstellation sind interessant und politisch bedeutsam.
Der Soziologe Stephan Lessenich erläutert in diesem Vortag die zentrale These seines Buches „Neben uns die Sintflut - Wie und warum wir über die Verhältnisse anderer leben"“. Menschen des globalen Nordens leben nicht nur auf Kosten künftiger Generationen, sondern auch aktuell auf Kosten von Menschen im globalen Süden.
